In the original Nashville Thanksgiving Day running and walking event, we welcomed more than 2,100 participants nationwide.
The heart of Downtown Nashville was alive with energy as over 2,100 participants gathered for the Music City Turkey Trot, the city’s premier Thanksgiving Day running and walking event. Featuring a 1-mile and 5K course, the event welcomed trotters of all ages, fitness levels, and, for the first time, their four-legged friends in the inaugural Music City Doggie Dash. Starting and finishing at Nissan Stadium—home of the Tennessee Titans—participants enjoyed a scenic journey through iconic Nashville landmarks, including the Gateway Bridge.
Outstanding Performances
The event saw stellar performances across the board. Robert Andwood claimed the men’s 5K championship title, finishing the 3.1-mile course in an impressive 16:22. Joshua Novotny and Chatham Anderson followed closely to round out the top three. Jennifer Malavolta led the pack on the women’s side, finishing at 19:36, followed by Jadyn Zdanavage and Alyssa Jochen.
Adding to the Tradition
“With a tradition enjoyed by so many people nationwide, we are constantly trying to find ways to welcome even more to take part in the holiday fun, pets and all!” said Malain McCormick, Owner and Operator of Run Nash, the event’s producer. “We take pride in being a part of so many people’s Thanksgiving holiday and hope to continue to see even more people and four-legged friends joining us in years to come.”
This year’s trot included actor, singer, and philanthropist Charles Esten, who ran alongside his family, adding a touch of star power to the day. Festivities also included a costume competition, where the top three winners took home apple pies to complement their Thanksgiving feasts.
Giving Back
The 2024 Music City Turkey Trot supported Nurture the Next, a local charity that empowered parents and communities to create loving homes for children. The organization provides in-home parenting support across 30 counties in Tennessee and operates several statewide programs to ensure children feel nurtured and valued.
