Grand Opening Scheduled for September 12, 2024
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (September 3, 2024) – Nestled in the heart of Nashville’s iconic Music Row, TheraPaint Studio, a first-of-its-kind wellness experience, is officially opening its doors on September 12, 2024. Co-owned by Jackie Laurian Long and former NFL all-star Jake Long, TheraPaint offers an unconventional yet therapeutic approach to emotional wellness—through paint throwing. The grand opening event at 1613 17th Avenue South will include an open house from 4:30 to 6 p.m., kicking off a month of special programming and promotions for founding members.
The studio soft-launched in June 2024 is like nothing Nashville has seen before. TheraPaint provides a luxurious yet non-clinical space for clients to release and process emotions in a tangible, cathartic way. Open Tuesday through Saturday, by appointment only, TheraPaint Studio offers clients a private, immersive experience in one of its four spacious, sound-dampened “throw rooms.” Dressed in protective gear, clients are invited to throw milk-based, compostable paint onto a canvas for 45 minutes. After the session, participants can relax in private dressing areas or unwind in the meditative garden, where compost from previous canvases nurtures the space. Clients leave with a Polaroid of their finished masterpiece as a keepsake.
Sustainability plays a central role at TheraPaint. From milk-based paint to compostable canvases and reusable gear, every material has been selected with the environment in mind. Jackie Laurian Long, who has a design background, took a hands-on approach to creating a space that reflects this philosophy. The studio, housed in a 1920s-era bungalow, was refreshed with eco-friendly paints, second-hand furnishings, and preserved historical details, such as the original wood flooring and fireplace.
“The idea for TheraPaint Studio came to me in 2018 during a particularly challenging time in our lives,” says Jackie Laurian Long. “After nine seasons in the NFL, multiple surgeries, cross-country moves, and personal family challenges, I felt overwhelmed and stressed. Traditional therapy and exercise just weren’t enough. When I told Jake about my urge to throw paint as a release, he surprised me with a makeshift studio in our garage. That simple practice evolved into something incredibly therapeutic, not just for me but for my friends as well. I’m honored to bring TheraPaint to Nashville and share this healing process with the community.”
Since its soft opening, TheraPaint has garnered impressive feedback. A study led by Gina De La Guardia at Georgia Tech revealed that 100% of participants reported an improved mood following their session and would recommend the experience to others.
Jake Long, co-owner and COO, emphasized the importance of non-traditional therapies, particularly for men. “In my NFL retirement, I’ve appreciated therapies like paint throwing. Men often shy away from it, but its impact on our clients speaks for itself. We’re excited to bring this unconventional yet effective practice to Nashville.”
Beginning on September 12, TheraPaint Studio will offer founding memberships through the end of the year. These memberships include one monthly session at a discounted rate of $125/month and a TheraPaint Studio tote bag. Individual sessions are priced at $160, and multi-session packages are available. Group bookings for corporate retreats and special events are also welcome.
TheraPaint will host several special events throughout September, starting with a Sound Bath + Intention Setting Workshop on September 19 and a Community Wellness Event on September 29. These unique experiences offer clients additional avenues for relaxation and connection.
