Terry Barga & Monica Oliver Team Up on Local on 2 to Talk Self-Care Saturdays & a Healthier MiddleTn

Middle Tennessee just got a little healthier—and a whole lot more inspired.

On a recent episode of Local on 2, co-hosts Laura and Stephanie welcomed two local wellness champions to the set: Terry Barga, owner of Nashville Fit , and Monica Oliver, community wellness director at WellPoint.

The duo joined the show to spotlight their powerful joint initiative aimed at making fitness and wellness more accessible across Tennessee. Their focus?

Self-Care Saturday—a free community event series that brings together fitness, yoga, and nutrition education for people of all ages and experience levels. These events aren’t just happening in Nashville.

They’re spreading wellness throughout the state, with activations scheduled in Jackson, Memphis, and Chattanooga as well. “This isn’t about perfection—it’s about participation,” Terry shared on air. “We want families, kids, older adults—everyone—to feel welcome and leave empowered to make small, sustainable changes to their health.” Monica Oliver echoed the sentiment. “WellPoint is committed to improving community health at the grassroots level.

By partnering with Terry and the Nashville Fit team, we’re combining fitness, fun, and free resources to spark real change in neighborhoods that need it most.” Each Self-Care Saturday features live group workouts, beginner-friendly yoga, nutrition Q&As, giveaways, and health-focused vendors—everything you’d need for a wellness recharge, minus the pressure.

The response has been overwhelmingly positive, with hundreds attending past events. The initiative is being praised as a model for how public-private partnerships can fuel long-term health transformations—without requiring an expensive gym membership or a complete life overhaul. “This is how we make health a movement,” Laura said as the segment wrapped. “One Saturday at a time.” To find a Self-Care Saturday event near you or to learn how to get involved, visit NashvilleFitMagazine.com
