Tennessee Titans Kick Off “Victory Over Stigma”: Mental Wellness Program to Nashville

NASHVILLE, TN – The Tennessee Titans’ ONE Community platform is making waves with its new mental wellness initiative, Victory Over Stigma which offers free therapy to 50 residents in the most underserved ZIP codes of North and East Nashville.

This ambitious program brings mental-health programming formerly reserved for pro athletes directly to neighborhoods historically denied access to quality care.

From Elite Athlete Support to Community Care

The Tennessee Titans internal mental wellness services currently used by players and coaches are powered by the Cheatcode Foundation, led by Dr. Armando “Mondo” González, a licensed therapist and performance coach. González now brings that expertise to the public:

“We are in the midst of a mental health crisis,” González says. “Access to transformational mental health experiences should be a basic human right for all. Through leadership from the Tennessee Titans, we now have the opportunity to provide the same trauma‑informed care we offer to Titans players directly to underserved communities in North and East Nashville. This is true community leadership in action.”

This marks a major step in expanding trauma-aware care from the Tennessee Titans locker room to zip codes with far fewer resources.

Program Design & Local Reach

Under the Neighborhoods pillar of ONE Community, the initiative targets ZIPs 37218, 37208, 37209, 37216, and 37206 which are areas with this elevated need and limited access to mental health services. The program offers 12 free therapy sessions with clinical providers trained in the same care approach used by NFL athletes.

Cheatcode also provides training for local healthcare and community workers, expanding mental-health capacity across clinics, schools, and nonprofits in the region. Click here for more information and to apply.

Why It Matters to Nashville’s Health & Fitness Community

By offering trauma-informed therapy typically reserved for pro athletes, the Titans are leveling the playing field in access to high-quality mental health support and walking alongside their very own communities struggles and adversities.

With figures like Titans WR A.J. Brown and QB Ryan Tannehill having publicly shared their mental health journeys, community-based therapy offers a tangible step toward normalizing self-care. Tannehill once reflected:

“It’s a deep scar and I was in a dark place, but therapy, talking to people and time helped.”

And Brown has introduced many fans to therapy:

“I posted the video because I wanted to encourage others to seek help whenever they are down. Reach out to your loved ones because it is important.”

This program aligns with Nashville’s growing view of total wellness, blending physical fitness and mental health into holistic care. Trainers, gyms, and clinicians can now pair movement and recovery with mental resilience training.

The Titans’ Victory Over Stigma is more than sports-brand philanthropy, it’s a scalable blueprint for public mental wellness. By pairing trauma-informed therapy with strategic outreach and professional training, the initiative tackles stigma and empowers underserved communities across Nashville. For the city’s fitness and wellness leaders, mental health matters, and elite care should no longer be reserved for the few.
