Predators Sign Top Draft Pick Brady Martin to Three-Year Entry-Level Deal

Nashville, TENN., — The Nashville Predators officially signed forward Brady Martin to a three-year, entry-level contract late Wednesday, General Manager Barry Trotz announced. Martin, the 18-year-old standout from the Ontario Hockey League (OHL), was selected fifth overall in the 2025 NHL Draft — the highest draft position the Predators have held in more than a decade.

From OHL Standout to Smashville Prospect

Martin was born March 16, 2007 in Elora, Ontario and wore the alternate captain’s “A” for the Soo Greyhounds during the 2024-25 season. He racked up 72 points (33 goals, 39 assists) in 57 regular season games, along with a +25 plus/minus rating and 72 penalty minutes. In the playoffs, he added 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in 5 games.

Internationally, Martin has represented Canada in several tournaments, including the 2023 World U-17 Hockey Challenge and the 2024 Hlinka-Gretzky Cup. Most recently, he played in the 2025 World U-18 Championship, where he won gold and was named to the tournament’s All-Star team.

What the Predators Are Saying

“Brady Martin is a young player with a well-rounded game,” said Barry Trotz. “He brings size, skill, leadership, and a consistent work ethic. We believe he has the tools to develop into an impact player for our roster.”

Martin expressed excitement about the opportunity: “I’m thrilled to get started in Nashville and to join the Preds organization. It’s a huge honor, and I’m eager to work hard and contribute however I can.”

What It Means for Nashville

The signing of Martin not only adds highly-touted young talent to the Predators pipeline, but it also signals the team’s commitment to rebuilding through youth. As the highest draft pick in over ten years, Martin is seen by many as a cornerstone for the franchise’s future.

With his size (6-foot, 185 pounds), leadership experience in junior hockey, and international success, expectations are high that Martin can adapt to the pace and physicality of NHL play.

Looking Ahead

Martin will join the Predators’ training camp roster as preparations ramp up for the 2025-26 season. The organization hopes his development will be closely managed with both expectations and opportunity in mind. Fans in Smashville are watching closely: is this the beginning of a new young core for Nashville?
