The heart of Music City pulsed with excitement on October 26 as nearly 4,000 runners from across the country gathered for the Nashville 1/2 Marathon & 6.15K, presented by First Horizon Bank and produced by Run Nash. This year’s event not only featured scenic routes through Nashville’s historic streets and landmarks but also saw a powerful collaboration with the American Cancer Society’s (ACS) DetermiNation Team, raising over $50,000 for cancer research.
The 2024 race highlighted a commitment to community and endurance as more than 50 charity runners joined the ACS DetermiNation Team. Funds these athletes raise will directly support the ACS’s life-saving research initiatives, contributing to cancer treatment and prevention advancements. The DetermiNation program empowers athletes to participate in various sports like running, cycling, hiking, and yoga to support the fight against cancer. This partnership made this year’s event especially meaningful, with participants pushing their limits for an impactful cause.
The marathon event crowned Nick Horne as the men’s marathon champion, with 2:41:42, followed closely by Jersson Patchar in second place and Braulio Edgar Flores in third. Ashley Althaus led the marathon field on the women’s side, finishing in an impressive 2:53:26, followed by Adriana Lizette Gomez Gutierrez and Madison Schwind.
In the half marathon division, Max Heaberlin emerged as the men’s champion with a time of 1:15:59. At the same time, Taylor Edwards led the women’s division, completing her race in 1:27:28. The 6.15K race, which debuted this year as a tribute to Nashville’s 615 area code, saw Connor Visnic and Sheena Banks as the top finishers with times of 20:12 and 24:54, respectively.
Run Nash designed the event to be an inclusive and enjoyable experience for all runners, from seasoned marathoners to first-time participants. All races kicked off and concluded at First Horizon Park, home of the Nashville Sounds Baseball Team. The park also hosted the Finish Line Festival, where participants and supporters celebrated with music, food, and community activities. The festival atmosphere continued throughout the day, with runners of all abilities and two stroller waves joining in on the fun. Live music, DJs, and motivational checkpoints dotted the race courses, boosting spirits and creating a truly Nashville-style race experience.
“This year, we saw an incredible turnout of athletes from around the world,” said Malain McCormick, Owner and Operator of Run Nash. “Putting on events that showcase our incredible city is something we love doing, and seeing participants coming from all over to participate in our race is so special.”
Fleet Feet Nashville, the official training sponsor of the Nashville 1/2, helped participants gear up for the race. As part of the partnership, Fleet Feet’s Running Club provided training resources and group runs to prepare local runners for a strong race finish, fostering community among participants long before race day.
