NASHVILLE, TN — If you’ve been to a bootcamp, spin class, or wellness event in Nashville over the past decade, chances are you’ve crossed paths with Jen Spice. With an energy that fills a room and a story that embodies experience and passion, Jen’s journey is one that mirrors the evolution of Nashville’s fitness culture itself.
Jen’s introduction to the fitness world wasn’t born out of a traditional path—it was born from community. After moving to Nashville in 2009, she joined a women’s boot camp in Lenox Village. When the trainer unexpectedly left, Jen stepped up. “I said, ‘I want to teach—how do I do this?.'” Before she knew it, she was leading 26 classes a week. “ I couldn’t get enough of it.”
What started as a passion quickly turned into purpose. Jen began building a network of women navigating major life moments—from engagements and new babies to career changes and fresh starts. “It was a good community for me to start with,” she said. Even after having her son in 2015, Jen couldn’t stay away for long. “I ran all the way up to my eighth month and even did a Burpee challenge 8 1/2 months pregnant,” she said.
And just after four weeks postpartum, Jen hit the fitness scene again.
From there, her fitness resume expanded rapidly with experience in yoga, personal training, spin, and Lagree
“Spin was my favorite. It was the closest thing to being back on stage,” said Jen, who grew up dancing and performing. “With the lights, loud music, and the crowd—it felt like entertainment all over again.”
Jen’s career included years with CycleBar, Shed Fitness, where she helped open The Gulch and Franklin locations, and later helped build the team for P96 in West Nashville.
But even as the trends in fitness shifted—from hot yoga to CrossFit to the rise of Pilates—Jen remained a constant figure in the city’s health and wellness landscape.
That consistency and authenticity led her to Nashville Fit Magazine as one of its original ambassadors in 2015.
Now, as Director of Operations at Nashville Fit Magazine + Marketing, Jen’s role is much bigger—and more visible. From running the Nashville Fit social media accounts to creating content of the top spots in Nashville, she is now involved more than ever. “I love running into faces I’ve seen since the early days,” she said. “Nashville fitness has grown so much, but a lot of us are still here, riding the wave together.”
She says if you are hoping to get on the Nashville Fit page, she recommends creating content that is authentic and inspiring.
Behind the brand, Jen is also a mom raising her son Owen with the same values of movement and wellness. “He’s been raised in the gym—literally. I ran a 5K every month while pregnant up to eight months, and he’s taken naps in storage closets during bootcamps,” she laughed. “That kid is a go-getter.”
As for the next big trend in fitness? Jen believes it’s not about grinding harder—it’s about wellness. “People are removing alcohol, leaning into cannabis or shrooms for healing, and getting serious about mental health,” she said. “It’s not extreme—it’s balanced.”
From cold plunges to saunas, the wellness space has become a priority that is here to stay.
“People might look at my Instagram and assume I count calories and live super strict,” she said. “Just move your body.”
During this year’s Music City Fit Expo, many approached Jen saying they recognized her from Instagram. “It was flattering—but I always panic, like, should I be following them back?” she joked. “But honestly, I just hope people see me as real. That’s always the goal—be authentic.”
Mission accomplished, Jen.
