How local Olympic Figure Skater combines his talents with Cancer Research
By: Cortney Wilbanks
A sport that came to life in New York City in 1840, Olympic figure skating is the oldest Olympic Sport that takes place during the winter games. Each year Nashville local Scott Hamilton combines figure skating and live music to put on one of the most unforgettable events of the year: Scott and Friends.
In order to drive the mission forward for the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation, each year the Scott and Friends feature new figure skating and musical guests. “I really want this to be a once and a lifetime event for all who attend,” says Hamilton.
The Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation seeks to change the future of cancer by funding innovative research while sparing the patient. When Scott lost his mother to cancer, he made it his mission to actively seek change in how it is treated. Creating a space where people can come together to drive the mission of cancer treatment, the Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation is a result of love and loss.
The Scott and Friends event is held this year on November 20, 2022, at the Bridgestone arena. For ticket information, please visit Scott Hamilton & Friends — Scott Hamilton CARES Foundation (scottcares.org).
