How beem® Light Sauna is Transforming Wellness in Nashville, All Inspired By Family

NASHVILLE, TN – In the ever-evolving world of wellness, beem® Light Sauna, located in the trendy Green Hills neighborhood, isn’t just a quick stop on the wellness map, it’s a sanctuary for recovery, regeneration, and rest. At the center are owner’s Jay and Stephanie Walton, whose personal story of discovery and passion is helping others experience life-changing results through the power of light therapy.

From Personal Healing to Purpose-Driven Business

Light therapy wasn’t initially a business venture, it was a lifesaver. With kids actively involved in competitive sports, injury and recovery were frequently apart of their daily routines.

“Our family was using light therapy quite a bit,” Stephanie shared. “Our kids are athletes, and we had used red light the most in order to get them rehabilitated and healed up faster and back on the court.”

What happened next felt like nothing short of a miracle.

“My daughter had a pretty major surgery, multiple screws put into her leg. We were introduced to red light immediately after her surgery, and was back on the court just six weeks later,” Stephanie said. “It was pretty amazing.”

From there, the family began using light therapy for other orthopedic issues and eventually found themselves immersed in research about the broader spectrum of healing modalities. That exploration led them to invest in beem® Light Sauna, and start providing the Nashville area with easy access to the healing benefits, relief and recovery, the same way her family had been.

“We were just looking at different investments and beem® Light Sauna surfaced. The more we learned about the science behind it, the more it opened our eyes to the healing power of light in general.”

The Science of Light: More Than Just a Glow

So how exactly does red light and it’s colorful companions work?

Stephanie explained that different wavelengths of light penetrate the body at different depths, targeting the body’s systems on a cellular level.

“The light helps your cells turn over faster. That’s what I try to explain to people, each wavelength has a specific reach,” she said. “Red light, is great for wound healing, skin, hair, and muscle recovery. It’s all about the length of the wavelength and how deeply it can penetrate the body.”

Other light therpies, like blue and green, offer their own unique benefits such as treating chronic skin issues, relieving severe headaches, reducing inflammation, and even boosting metabolism. But it’s not just about skin-deep beauty or a trendy detox. For many clients, light therapy has become a cornerstone of their chronic pain management, immune support, and mental health.

Real People, Real Results

beem® Light Sauna members aren’t just “wellness junkies” chasing the next big trend. They’re people of all ages and stages of life, many of whom are struggling with chronic conditions that mainstream medicine hasn’t solved.

“Some of our members have autoimmune diseases, connective tissue disorders, or chronic inflammation,” Stephanie said. “We also see people with mold exposure who have brain fog that they can’t get rid of, and they’re using our saunas and light therapies to detoxify and regain clarity.”

One of her most memorable stories involves a high school football player who pulled his hamstring and was desperate to get back on the field.

“He’s been coming every day this week for red light therapy,” she shared. “When people are consistent, they see the results that help them reach their goals faster.”

There are others, like a client with severe rheumatoid arthritis, who is now able to reduce dependency on medications after regular visits.

“Often, one medication leads to another to manage side effects, and then another,” Stephanie said. “Our therapies give people a chance to reclaim their health without adding more pharmaceuticals to the mix.”

The Power of the Sauna, Reimagined

beem® Light Sauna isn’t your average dry-heat sauna. Their studio features infrared saunas using near, mid, and far infrared light that heats the body from the inside out.

“A traditional sauna heats the air around you,” Stephanie explained. “But in an infrared sauna, the light itself penetrates your body. It’s a slow, deep heat. You can stay in for 40 minutes, and by the end, you’ve burned up to 600 calories.”

That combination of deep detox, stress relief, and metabolic support makes the infrared sauna a favorite among members—especially those who have tried everything and still struggle with fatigue or chronic stress.

“At first, I didn’t believe the stress relief would be that significant,” she admitted. “But now it’s my favorite thing. I walk in a ball of stress and come out calm and clear-headed. It’s incredible clarity”

Mental Health Matters, Too

While the physical benefits of light therapy are well-documented, Stephanie says that the emotional and mental benefits are just as powerful and often overlooked.

“Wellness isn’t just about the body,” she said. “We’ve undervalued rest. We’ve undervalued the idea of taking time for ourselves.”

Stephanie sees it in her members all the time, many of whom are between 35 and 65 years old and have spent decades putting others first. “Now they’re finally investing in themselves, and we’re here to support that. Because when we take care of ourselves, we can take care of everyone else better.”

Her answer stopped me in my tracks. As a journalist who’s interviewed hundreds of wellness professionals, that line hit a deeper note than most: “We can take care of others better when we take care of ourselves.”

It’s not just a motto, it’s a mission.

A Studio Built for Comfort and Care

beem® Light Sauna’s studio is designed to feel like a blend between a modern spa and a wellness lab. With seven infrared sauna rooms, including two social saunas for friends or couples, and multiple private, light therapy rooms, the space is equal parts serene and high-tech.

Each room includes Bluetooth audio, an iPad for entertainment or guided meditation, and fully customizable settings depending on your wellness goals.

“We have an advanced light therapy room where we can combine green, blue, and red customizations to fit person’s invididal needs,” Stephanie explained. “Some clients aren’t heat-tolerant, so they opt for those light-only therapies without the sauna. Everyone has different goals, and we love being able to tailor the experience to each person.”

More Than a Wellness Trend

Stephanie and Jay see beem® Light Sauna not just as a service, but as a community of healing. Their team is trained not only in the science behind the technology but also in empathy.

“I’m proud of our staff. They’re compassionate and incredibly knowledgeable,” she said. “They truly care. It’s more than a job to them.”

As Nashville continues to grow, spaces like beem® Light Sauna offer something our city desperately needs. A place to slow down, reset, and prioritize ourselves, without guilt is top priority.

“This is the kind of self-care that’s actually healing,” Stephanie said. “And the best part is, it doesn’t hurt. It only helps.”
