NASHVILLE, TN — David Joniak, a familiar name in Middle Tennessee’s fitness community, is launching something new—and it’s more than just a workout. After years of service in the U.S. Army and a successful run managing gyms and leading group fitness programs, Joniak is blending two passions: coffee and fitness, and turning them into one powerful mission.
David’s latest venture, Rescue Coffee + Fitness, is a hybrid coffeehouse and gym concept set to open in Middle Tennessee this fall. It aims to deliver not only specialty brews and dynamic fitness experiences but also to fund real world rescue missions. A portion of the proceeds from every purchase—whether it’s a latte or a group training session—will go directly to organizations on the frontlines of child trafficking rescue and prevention.
“This is bigger than business,” Davis says. “This is about building a community that shows up for each other—and for the voiceless.”
From the Military to the Mat
David’s journey began with a six-year career in the U.S. Army, including time with the elite 75th Ranger Regiment. After serving his country, he turned his focus to family and fitness, working with top brands like Burn Boot Camp, and Orangetheory and more.
“I’ve always been drawn to leadership and to helping people grow, whether it was in the military or in the gym,” he says.
But over the years, he found himself craving something deeper—something that combined his skills with his heart for justice.
That’s when the idea for Rescue Coffee + Fitness was born.
A Brew with a Purpose
Coffee has long been a part of Joniak’s daily ritual, but at Rescue, it’s more than just a caffeine fix. The beans are ethically sourced and roasted with care, with an emphasis on community and transparency. But the real secret ingredient? Purpose.
David has partnered with a network of vetted nonprofits that actively fight child trafficking in the U.S. and abroad. Every cup of coffee and every training session contributes to that fight.
“We wanted to create a space where people could come together—whether they’re lifting weights or sipping cold brew, and know that they’re making a difference,” David adds.
Fitness for Freedom
The fitness side of Rescue will offer group training classes designed to push members physically and inspire them mentally. Classes will incorporate strength, conditioning, and functional movement, with experienced coaches leading the charge.
Members can expect a welcoming, high-energy environment that reflects David’s philosophy of whole-person wellness. “I want people to leave feeling empowered—body, mind, and soul,” he adds.
Community, Culture, and a Calling
At the heart of it all is a desire to build authentic community. Rescue Coffee + Fitness won’t be a place where people just come and go. David envisions it as a hub where relationships form, stories are shared, and lives are changed.
“I know the power of showing up,” he says. “We all have a role to play. Whether you’re a coach, a barista, or someone just looking to make a difference—this is your place.”
Rescue Coffee + Fitness is set to open in Summer/Fall 2025, with plans for future expansion already in the works. As David puts it, “This is just the beginning.”
