NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Fresh, flavorful and built around the idea that healthy food should never feel like a compromise, Radish has quickly become one of Middle Tennessee’s go-to destinations for nutritious meals that actually satisfy. Whether you’re grabbing lunch after a workout, fueling a busy workday or simply looking for ingredients you can feel good about, Radish has created a menu that makes wellness both convenient and crave-worthy.
Hear from husband-and-wife founders Luke and Amanda Smiley about the inspiration behind Radish, how a simple idea grew into one of Middle Tennessee’s favorite healthy eateries, and why so many people have made it part of their everyday wellness routine across its locations.

How did the business come about? Origin story?
Honestly, Radish started as the restaurant WE wanted to eat at every day and we’re thrilled that so many people in Nashville feel the same way. When we moved to Nashville from California eight years ago, we struggled to find the kind of fresh, healthy food we’d grown used to eating. Amanda is a chef with a gift for turning simple, fresh ingredients into food that’s genuinely delicious. Luke’s background is in finance and operations. Neither of us had run a restaurant before, but we saw a gap in Nashville and felt like our skills complemented each other enough to fill it. It was a leap of faith but its been fun!
Why is wellness important to you? Any personal experiences?
We’re both active people, and over the years our focus on taking care of our bodies has shifted from just exercise to what we eat. Amanda’s gift is making fresh, simple ingredients taste incredible, so we’ve never felt like eating healthy meant sacrificing flavor. As we’ve gotten older, that’s only become more important. Eating well just makes us feel better, and that’s the experience we want every Radish customer to have.
Favorite item and why?
Amanda’s go-to is the Hot and Crispy Wrap with a frozen yogurt. She gets it nearly every day. Luke rotates between the Rad Cobb Salad with grilled chicken and the Mexican Street Corn Caesar with salmon, depending on his mood.
What does it mean to you to have created a popular wellness and nutritious spot in Middle Tennessee?

It’s been incredibly exciting to build something that people genuinely love and that’s become part of the community. We see so many customers come in straight from a workout class, or hear from people about how Radish fits into their broader health routine. Knowing we’re a meaningful part of someone’s health journey is one of the most rewarding parts of doing this.
Outside of the business, what are some of your favorite ways to recharge and practice self-care?
We love long walks and hikes with our dog. It’s how we decompress, and honestly it’s one of the best ways we connect with each other outside of the business.
Wellness trends seem to change constantly. How do you stay true to your mission while continuing to innovate?
Healthy food only matters if it actually tastes good and is easy to get. Our north star at Radish is a menu that’s nutritious, delicious, and convenient. As more people make wellness a daily priority, we think that combination only becomes more important, and we’re committed to keeping it at the center of everything we do.
