There are places you go for a workout, and places you keep going back to because of the people. For 16 years, HOTBOX Nashville was both.
HOTBOX will hold its final classes on Saturday, September 26, and I know I’m not the only one feeling this one. If you’ve spent any time in Nashville fitness, you know what HOTBOX meant to this city.

It started in 2010 with eight bags and grew into something so much bigger than kickboxing. The music was loud, the classes were tough, and you were probably going to leave absolutely drenched. But people came back because someone remembered their name. An instructor noticed how far they’d come. A stranger beside them became a friend.

That’s what HOTBOX got so right. Community is a word we use a lot in fitness, but it takes real care to build one. You have to make the first-timer feel as welcome as the person who’s been showing up for years. HOTBOX did that, over and over again.
I started teaching around that same era, so I have a lot of love for the people and places that helped shape Nashville fitness into what it is today. HOTBOX is an OG in the Nashville Fit world. So many instructors and fitness folks have a HOTBOX story, and so many members found a little more confidence in themselves on those mats.

To the team who built it, taught in it, and kept showing up for people: thank you. What you created mattered. You gave Nashville 16 years of great classes, yes, but you also gave people a place to belong. That’s the part they’ll carry with them.

If HOTBOX was part of your story, go take one last class on Saturday if you can. Tell your favorite instructor what they meant to you. Dig up the old photos. Tag the friend who always talked you into going.
And share your HOTBOX memory with us. We’d love to celebrate this community with you. 🥊❤️
