The new Friday night plan? Meet at Walk of Fame Park, make a few downtown miles, then stick around and see who you meet.
Downtown Runners x Nashville Fit kicks off Friday, October 16, at 6 p.m. We’ll run a new 3–5-mile route each week, with all paces welcome. Afterward, the plan is to cool down, play lawn games, and hang out.
Run clubs are popping up everywhere, and it’s not hard to see why. Strava reported that new running clubs on its platform grew 3.5 times in 2025, with new clubs overall nearly quadrupling and the platform reaching one million total clubs. The run is part of it. The bigger draw is having somewhere to go and people to meet once you get there.
A group run takes some of the pressure out of making new friends. You don’t have to walk into a room and figure out what to say; you can just start moving beside someone. Strava found that 55% of Gen Z athletes named social connection as their top reason for joining a fitness group.
And the idea of a good night out is changing, too. Gallup’s 2026 survey found that 54% of U.S. adults drink alcohol, matching a record low in its tracking back to 1939. That doesn’t mean people stopped wanting to go out. It suggests there’s room for more ways to spend time together—ones that don’t have to revolve around a bar.
That feels right for Nashville. We love a big night out, obviously. But we also love a reason to get downtown, run into familiar faces, discover a new corner of the city, and make plans that don’t require yelling over Broadway. Walk of Fame Park gives us a pretty great place to start.
You don’t need to be training for a race or know your pace down to the second. Show up ready to cover 3–5 miles at a pace that works for you. Come with your running buddy, bring the friend who keeps saying they need a new routine, or show up solo and let the group do the introductions.
