NASHVILLE, Tenn. — Nashville Fit Magazine is inviting businesses, nonprofits and volunteers to join the next community resource fair on Tuesday, July 23.
As the owner of Nashville Fit Magazine, B2 Wellness Suites and BodyWell, Terry Barga and Vanessa Hampton have built their career around helping people live healthier lives. Now, they are bringing that same mission to Nashville’s unhoused community through the growing Rise Up Resource Fair initiative.
The next Rise Up Resource Fair will be held Thursday, July 23, from noon to 3 p.m. at Proclamation Church in South Nashville, where nonprofits, healthcare providers, businesses and volunteers will come together to offer free meals, clothing, hygiene products and connections to vital community resources.

Wellness Beyond Fitness
While Hampton and Barga are known for promoting health and wellness throughout Middle Tennessee, they believes true wellness also means ensuring people have access to basic necessities and supportive services.

Through the Rise Up Resource Fair, attendees can meet with organizations that provide healthcare resources, housing assistance, food support, mental health services and other programs designed to help individuals experiencing homelessness move toward greater stability.
The event returns to Proclamation Church after the previous resource fair was held at Coleman Park.
Building a Stronger Community Together
Rise Up Resource Fairs are currently held every other month, but Hampton and Barga hopes the initiative will eventually become a monthly resource for Nashville’s unhoused population.

That growth depends on continued community involvement. Organizers are inviting local nonprofits, businesses and service providers to participate as resource vendors, sponsors or volunteers. Community members are also encouraged to spread the word to organizations that may want to get involved.
The collaborative model allows attendees to access multiple services in one location while giving organizations an opportunity to connect directly with those who need their support.
Looking for Community Partners
The initiative continues to receive support from Wellpoint, whose sponsorship has helped make the resource fairs possible. As the program grows, Hampton and Barga say additional sponsors and partners will be essential to expanding both the reach and frequency of future events.

Organizations interested in participating can support the event by hosting an informational booth, making financial or in-kind donations, or volunteering during the fair.
By bringing together the health, nonprofit and business communities, Hampton and Barga hope the Rise Up Resource Fair will continue creating meaningful opportunities for Nashville’s unhoused neighbors while reinforcing that wellness begins with meeting people’s most basic needs.
