Nashville Fitness Community Invited to Get ‘Sweatier for the Better’ in Honor of 9/11
As the nation prepares to mark the 25th anniversary of September 11, Nashville’s fitness and wellness community is being invited to turn remembrance into action.

On September 11, 2026, Bootcamps for Change will bring #SweatierForTheBetter Day to Middle Tennessee, encouraging gyms, studios, wellness businesses, first responders, and community members to come together through movement while honoring the lives lost and those who continue to serve.

At the heart of the day is a 110-floor stair challenge at Anytime Fitness Fairview. Firefighters from Williamson County Fire and Rescue will join community members in climbing the equivalent of 110 floors—one for every story of the Twin Towers.
The challenge serves as both a physical tribute to the first responders who answered the call on September 11, 2001, and an opportunity to support programs focused on mental health, wellness, and youth mentorship throughout Middle Tennessee.

“September 11th will always be a day of reflection for the fire service. This year, we’re channeling that into action—honoring those we lost by investing in the wellness of those who continue to serve,” said Dr. Katie Heggtveit, a rookie firefighter with Williamson County Fire and founder of Bootcamps for Change.

Nashville’s Fitness Community Steps Up

The initiative is already receiving support from fitness and wellness businesses across the region, demonstrating just how powerful the local health community can be when it rallies around a shared cause.

Participating supporters include 7 Seven Minutes, UrbanSweat Sauna Studio, Body Alive, Rhoe Pilates, Row House, Club Pilates Berry Farms, F45 East Nashville, F45 The Nations, Shakti Power Yoga, Pure Barre, WundaBar Pilates, The Pilates Barr, CrossFit East Nashville, BodyRok Nashville, SETS Murfreesboro, Avalon Athletic Club, Core Massage and Wellness, The Farm, and many others.
But the invitation extends far beyond those already involved.
Gyms, fitness studios, wellness professionals, businesses, teams, and individuals throughout Middle Tennessee are encouraged to participate. Community members can complete the stair challenge individually or alongside coworkers, friends, or teammates. Businesses can create wellness promotions, organize their own participation, make donations, or simply help amplify the effort through their communities and social platforms.

The goal is bigger than completing 110 floors.
It is about using fitness as a vehicle for connection, remembrance, service, and positive change.

Sweat With a Purpose

For Bootcamps for Change, #SweatierForTheBetter represents the idea that movement can accomplish more than improving our own health. It can create community and provide an opportunity to support people whose service and sacrifice often come with physical and mental demands that extend far beyond the job.
Twenty-five years after September 11, the stair challenge offers Nashville an opportunity to remember through action.

One step. One floor. One community moving together.
#SweatierForTheBetter Day takes place September 11, 2026.
