Fit Friday Spotlight: Darcie Shunk Brings Holistic Approach to STAT Wellness

In the heart of Middle Tennessee, a revolutionary wellness center is changing how people approach fitness and health. STAT Wellness, with its beautiful new facility, is breaking barriers in the wellness industry—and at the forefront of this movement is fitness expert Darcie Shaw, whose personal journey has shaped her holistic approach to health.

From Athlete to Wellness Advocate

Darcie’s relationship with fitness began early in life. “Fitness has always been a passion,” she explains. “I ran track and cross country in high school and was a collegiate athlete.” But it was a significant health challenge three years ago that transformed her approach to wellness.

“When it really changed was probably three years ago when I had a pretty big health issue and it completely changed my outlook on everything,” Shaw reveals. “That’s when I ditched alcohol. I completely focused on nutrient-dense diet, sleep, stress, blood sugar regulation, all of those integrative holistic health aspects, just to kind of get me working the best that I could.”

This personal transformation inspired her to expand her expertise beyond personal training, which she had been doing for over ten years. She became a nutrition coach and is currently pursuing board certification as a health coach and nutritional practitioner. Needless to say — she is passionate about furthering her health and wellness education for your advantage.

Breaking Fitness Misconceptions

Darcie is passionate about dispelling common fitness myths, particularly for women. Despite being an avid runner who recently completed Nashville’s Music City marathon, she emphasizes the importance of strength training for women.

“The biggest misconception for women is that we need to do these bootcamp classes,” Shaw states. “Seeing that strength training and progressive overload and lifting those heavy weights—it’s not just for men. That’s when my body made a huge change.”

She adds, “I really structure STAT Wellness program’s for functional strength training so that we can lift now to live the best life we can now, but also in the future.”

STAT Wellness: A Comprehensive Approach

What makes STAT Wellness stand out in the crowded fitness industry is its comprehensive approach to health. The facility offers both movement-focused areas and medical services under one roof.

“On the movement side, it is absolutely an inclusive environment. All fitness levels are welcome and we can take care of you and make you feel welcome from the second you step in the door,” Darcie explains. “The medicine side upstairs is really what makes me so excited beyond belief with the practitioners, nutrition coach, health coach, IVs, injections, everything under one roof to get in front of any issues that might happen.”

Shaw is particularly enthusiastic about STAT’s accessibility. “Honestly, I can’t even put into words how realistic the cost is there. This type of holistic health is definitely for that one to 2%, but now you can get it for everyone at such a beautiful monthly membership. It’s really groundbreaking.”

Wellness for Everyone

Shaw firmly believes that wellness should be accessible to all, not just athletes or the wealthy. “It meets you exactly where you’re at and shows you how to be the best version of yourself,” she says. “Everyone has that best version of themselves inside from a wellness standpoint, and it doesn’t matter about economic status. We all have to show up and be that best version.”

Her philosophy that “mental health equals physical health” guides her approach at STAT. “Everyone needs to show up as the best version of themself for whatever their life entails, and STAT offers that for everyone,” Shaw emphasizes.

Beyond the Gym

While Shaw is deeply committed to her work at STAT Wellness, she maintains a balanced life outside the fitness center. Her personal Instagram and fitness page  showcase both her professional expertise and personal interests.

As STAT Wellness continues to make waves in Middle Tennessee’s fitness landscape, Darcie Shaw remains dedicated to helping clients achieve optimal health through a holistic approach that addresses both physical and mental wellbeing. Her journey from athlete to wellness advocate exemplifies the transformative power of comprehensive health practices—exactly what STAT Wellness aims to provide for all its members.
