Building Community Through Endurance: Cole Lindquist & Finish Line Society | NFM Podcast

What happens when you decide to completely change the direction of your life? On this episode of the NFM Podcast, host Abby Miranda sits down with Cole Lindquist, a single father, endurance athlete, and founder of Finish Line Society, a Nashville-based endurance event company built around community, resilience, recovery, and the belief that the finish line is only the beginning.

Cole shares his powerful story of getting sober on February 29, 2024, and how recovery changed the way he viewed himself, his future, and his role as a father to his daughter, Blakely. After getting sober, Cole turned to running and exercise, discovering discipline, structure, and a new purpose through early mornings and the daily process of becoming better than the day before.

What started with barely being able to run a mile eventually led to half marathons, marathons, ultramarathons, multiple IRONMAN 70.3 events, and countless other races. Cole explains how endurance sports became more than physical challenges—they became a way to rebuild his life and discover what he was truly capable of.

Cole also talks about the moment during his first IRONMAN when he realized that the real accomplishment wasn’t simply crossing the finish line, but becoming the person capable of getting there. That realization ultimately inspired him to create Finish Line Society in Nashville.

The conversation also highlights the inaugural Nashville Fall Forward Classic, happening September 12 at Two Rivers Park, featuring 5K, 10K, and 15K races. In honor of National Recovery Month, the event benefits The Next Door Recovery, an organization helping women overcome addiction and rebuild their lives—a mission that is deeply personal to Cole.

From sobriety and recovery to fatherhood, endurance training, entrepreneurship, and community, Cole’s story is a powerful reminder that your past doesn’t have to determine your future.

You can start again. You can become someone you never thought possible.
