Aug 19, 2019 | NASHVILLE, TN – A inspiring 5K supporting injured veterans is right around the corner in Nashville. The Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) Carry Forward® 5K, delivered by CSX®, returns to Music City on Sept. 21 outside Nissan Stadium.
The event is building on an incredible first year when more than 800 participants coursed streets and crossed the Cumberland River, all to support the mission of honoring and empowering wounded veterans and their families.
“With all of the hundreds of people that are here supporting us, it really warms my heart to know this is the country we live in,” said one veteran after last year’s Nashville event.
WWP is putting that mission in motion again this year by encouraging participants to take action in one of three ways:
- Carry a flag to show support and patriotism.
- Carry a weight to represent the responsibilities veterans carry while serving our country.
- Carry another person to symbolize one warrior carrying another in their time of need.
To sign up for the event, visit the Carry Forward website. 100% of the registration cost goes toward supporting wounded veterans and their families. Warriors never pay a penny for any WWP program or service; they paid their dues on the battlefield.
Can’t make it to the Nashville event? Carry Forward events will also be held in San Antonio (Oct. 5) and Jacksonville, Florida (Nov. 9).
You can also host your own virtual Carry Forward event; more than 300 people have already participated virtually this year. For more information on how to create your own 5K, check out the virtual Carry Forward page and register your squad today.
