NASHVILLE, Tenn. — For more than two decades, Tomato Art Fest has been known for its quirky costumes, larger-than-life tomato-themed art, live music and community spirit. But this year’s celebration is also giving festivalgoers another reason to head to Five Points: a full lineup of wellness and fitness events designed to get Nashville moving.
The 23rd annual Tomato Art Fest returns to East Nashville on Friday, Aug. 7, from 5-10 p.m. and Saturday, Aug. 8, from 9 a.m.-7 p.m. The free, family-friendly festival is expected to once again transform the East Nashville neighborhood into one of the city’s most colorful celebrations, complete with art vendors, local food, live entertainment, contests, shopping and its famous tomato-inspired festivities.
This year, organizers are expanding the festival experience beyond food and art by encouraging attendees to prioritize movement and mindfulness through the new Tomato Flow Yoga Series.

Five days of movement before the festival
Leading up to Tomato Art Fest, the Tomato Flow Yoga Series offers five community classes hosted by some of East Nashville’s most popular fitness studios.
The schedule includes:
- Tuesday, Aug. 4 – Shakti Yoga at 4:30 p.m.
- Wednesday, Aug. 5 – The Brokerage Pilates pop-up at Salt Ranch at 6 p.m.
- Thursday, Aug. 6 – Hola Yoga East Nashville at 10 a.m.
- Friday, Aug. 7 – Club Pilates pop-up at East Nashville Beer Works at 1 p.m.
- Saturday, Aug. 8 – Hot Yoga East Nashville at 7 a.m., giving participants the chance to start festival day with an energizing workout.
The series highlights a mix of yoga, Pilates and community fitness while showcasing local studios that continue to grow Nashville’s wellness scene.
Start festival day with a 5K
For runners and walkers, the wellness opportunities continue Saturday morning with the East Nashville Tomato 5K.
Beginning at 7:30 a.m. from East Park Community Center, participants can walk, jog or run through East Nashville before heading into the festival. A Kids Fun Run takes place beforehand, making it an event for the entire family. Organizers encourage participants to wear their best tomato-themed attire before celebrating at the festival after crossing the finish line.
More than just tomatoes
Of course, the festival’s signature attractions remain at the heart of the weekend.
Visitors can enjoy:
- The famous Push, Pull & Wear Parade
- Live music across multiple stages
- Local artists and makers
- Food vendors and tomato-inspired dishes
- Costume contests
- Family activities
- Interactive art
- Shopping from local businesses
- The annual Bloody Mary Garden Party for guests 21 and older (ticket required)
Since its founding more than 20 years ago, Tomato Art Fest has grown into one of Nashville’s most beloved annual traditions, drawing thousands of visitors while celebrating creativity, community and the city’s uniquely playful personality. The addition of fitness programming reflects another side of East Nashville’s culture—one where local studios, movement and wellness are becoming just as much a part of the neighborhood as its art and music.
Whether you’re flowing through a sunrise yoga class, crossing the finish line of the Tomato 5K, or simply strolling Five Points in your best tomato costume, this year’s Tomato Art Fest offers plenty of ways to celebrate both creativity and healthy living.
